This cake and col project isn’t really going to plan! Plenty of cycling, but not very much cake.
Last weekend I went up to the col de Pierre Carrée just before Flaine. Its long, but not super steep. Its a really lovely climb, quiet roads, beautiful views and, according to Damien, some very pleasing bends!
We got tangled up in a bike race for the first half of the climb – free cheering and checking out the other riders socks (what is it with serious road bikers and the longish socks, don’t they worry about tan lines? )
Its a bit of a non-col, there isn’t much there, just the least flat golf course I’ve ever seen! but never mind, I have 2 pieces of banana choc chip cake in my pocket! So back down to Les Carroz to find a coffee! The coffee wasn’t great but it was a sunny spot. The cake was pretty good, a little pocket squished and warmed but better than no cake!
