This weekends hunt for cake was a tough one, up to the Emosson dam (Col de la Gueulaz) It’s a tough climb, the last 6km have a steepness of 9-10%!
It was the first sunshine we’ve had for a while, lower down the hillsides and verges are lush, verdant green strewn with brightly coloured flowers. Mountain tops that have been obscured by cloud for the last few days popped out of the cloud. There are posters everywhere announcing that the Tour de France is coming. Even the dinasour is wearing a cycling helmet!
The top was a little grey and chilly, the intermittent clearings in the cloud revealed views of mountains and the lake that is still half claimed by winter and her snowy coat.
Àine popped inside to see what kind of cake there was. Maybe myrtille or Apple, hopefully rhubarb! I was so excited!!
She came back out moments later and announced the bad news – there was NO CAKE!
She was assured that they would start making when the summer season really got underway and they got busier. Guess we’ll be coming back up here in July! In the meantime we consoled ourselves with chocolate!
